Hello Summit Seniors golfers and welcome to the start of the 2022 season,
The 2022 Membership Form, Tournament schedule and current Point Quotas are now on the website (www.ssgoa.org) under “Membership”. Please help us by mailing in your $50 membership registration as soon as possible.
For 2022, Point Quota cutoffs for each division have changed to better balance the number of players for tournaments in each division:
A Division: 25+ (previous cutoff was 24, tournaments were averaging 110+ players)
B Division: 20-24 (previous cutoff was 18, tournaments were averaging 95 – 105 players)
C Division: 19 and below (previous cutoff was 17 and below, tournaments were averaging 60 players)
- We strongly encourage you to play tournaments in the division based on your point quota at the beginning of the season even if you might have to find a new partner.
- While not prohibited, we strongly discourage you from moving up if your point quota is more than 2 under the cutoff. As before, you may only move up one division.
Pace of play is still an issue and is our #1 complaint each year! We hope to have more volunteers for player assistance on the course, but we need your help while playing to make certain your group is moving to finish in 4½ hours or less.
SSGOA has always depended on volunteers to run our tournaments and all operations associated with the organization. It takes over 30 volunteer hours per tournament to do the job right. Tasks include tournament rangers, markers, scoring, check-in assistance, back-ups for starters, etc. In addition, we are also looking for someone (preferably from the “B” Division) to become the new “C” Tournament Manager. If you would like to volunteer, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know how many hours that you are available per week and what division you are playing in. We would schedule you in your off week.
Regarding the Summit Seniors Board, the “About Us” tab at the top of our website lists all the Board members and the positions they now hold. The “Contact” tab lists our new phone number (330-269-9597) as well as our mailing and email address.
On behalf of the entire SSGOA Board of Directors, we hope to see you at tournaments this year.
Chuck Maroon, President
