How to clear the cache in every major browser
The information below represents the steps needed to clear the cache in various browsers. This information was accurate at the time of publish but the steps might change slightly with future releases of the browsers. If the steps below do not work for you, go to Google (or your favorite search engine) and search for “how to clear the cache in <browser name>” replacing “<browser name>” with the name of the browser you are using (e.g., Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc.)
Google Chrome (Desktop)
- Click the three dots in the top-right corner.
- Select Delete browsing data…
- Choose a time range (select All time to clear everything).
- Check Cached images and files (you can uncheck everything else if you prefer).
- Click Delete data
Microsoft Edge
- Click the three dots in the top-right corner.
- Select Delete browsing data
- Choose a Time range (select All time to clear everything).
- Check Cached images and files (you can uncheck everything else if you prefer).
- Click Clear now
Mozilla Firefox
- Click the menu button (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner and select Settings
- Select Privacy & Security
- Scroll down to Cookies and Site Data and click Clear browsing data
- Set the time range (When) to Everything
- Check Temporary cached files and pages (you can uncheck everything else if you prefer).
- Click Clear
Opera
- Click the Opera icon in the top-left corner and select Settings
- In the Settings window select Privacy & security
- Click on Delete browsing data
- Choose a Time range (select All time to clear everything).
- Check Cached images and files (you can uncheck everything else if you prefer).
- Click Delete data
Safari (Mac)
- Click Safari in the top menu bar, then choose Settings (or Preferences).
- Go to the Advanced tab and enable Show Develop menu in menu bar.
- Click Develop in the menu bar and select Empty Caches.
Google Chrome (Android/iOS)
- Click the three dots in the top-right corner.
- Select Delete browsing data…
- Choose a time range (select All time to clear everything).
- Click More options
- Check Cached images and files (you can uncheck everything else if you prefer).
- Click Delete data.
Safari (iOS)
- Go to Settings, tap Apps, then select Safari
- Tap Advanced at the bottom, then choose Website Data
- Tap Remove All Website Data
- Tap Remove Now
